Shipping and Logistics giant, Global Cargo and Commodities Limited have been awarded two prestigious awards at the 2022 Ghana Business Standard Awards.
The first is the Shipping Company of the Year as well as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Jacob Gbati, receiving the special recognition award, as the CEO of the Year (Shipping).
The 2022 Ghana Business Standard Awards seeks to celebrate organizations committed to remarkable business standards in their sectors and industry leaders breaking barriers of excellence across the Ghanaian business region and the world at large.
Commenting on the award in an interview, a Director at the Global Cargo and Commodities Limited, Kennedy Jato said the recognition did not come as a surprise, given the exceptional services the company provides for the industry and the country as a whole.
“We are making a lot of impact in the industry. So, if they give us as a company of the year 2022, I think it’s worth it. It was a good judgment that made it think we are grateful for that,” the Director said.
“You know, now the whole country and across the world, everybody struggling; if you have your goods that go to somebody who cannot deliver in time, you may end up in care more debt, because any least opportunity or any least waste of time that your cargo spends at the port will mean that you are going to pay more. So, if we are able to clear your cargo on time for you, it makes the importers free and then the impact is great. That has given us that edge to get to be at this level,” he elaborated.
Subsequent to the 2022 Ghana Business Standard Awards, Global Cargo And Commodities Limited was yet again awarded twice at the 2022 Ghana Shippers Awards, as the best shipping company in Ghana for 2022 and recognition as the best CEO in the industry.
“We know our worth; we know what we are capable of doing. We are equally big in shipping; we have four vessels in Tema Port which no shipping line currently has. We are not an only giant in Ghana but giant in neighbouring countries and other parts of the world. Our brand is well-known and we are competing favourably with all foreign companies,” Mr Jato said.
The company was incorporated in 1993, with branches in all major ports and Entry points in Ghana, including Tema, Takoradi, K.I.A, Aflao, Elubo and Paga. The has spread it tentacles also to Togo, Benin, and Niger and is currently establishing at La Cote d’Ivoire.
Its core business includes ship handling, custom clearing and forwarding, haulage, as well as cargo and commodities. The company has the state-of-the-art equipment at the terminal which handles all kinds of loaded and empty containers.
The Awards recognizes standard makers, excellence achievers and responsible organizations and individuals who adhere to the local business requirements while consistently improving their organization’s performance. 43 top companies and individuals in Ghana were recognized.
